- Prerequisite: Basic EKG
Learn to recognize and understand normal, borderline and abnormal tracings at this workshop. Gain skills in identifying acute coronary syndromes (ACS), bundle branch block, pericarditis, Prinzmetals angina, left and right atrial enlargement, QRS axis and much more. You will learn and practice how to look at and critically analyze a 12 lead EKG. This course has been of real benefit to nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, nurse practitioners, EKG techs, physicians and physician assistants. A comprehensive workbook / manual that you will keep and use for years is included. You will learn to:

  • Classify tracings as normal, borderline or abnormal.
  • Use QRS axis to help determine certain diagnoses.
  • Recognize the location of acute coronary syndromes and estimate their age and size.
  • Relate appropriate therapy to stage of ACS.
  • Differentiate LBBB versus RBBB and their significance.
  • Compare acute MI, angina, pericarditis, aneurysm and early repolarization.
  • Find chamber enlargements - RAE, LAE, RVH, LVH - and understand clinical implications.
  • Consider clinical management of patient problems encountered.
