- Basic EKG required. Prior CV drug course/strong experience preferred. Providing intelligent nursing care to cardiovascular patients rests on a thorough understanding of hemodynamic variables. Then you can relate the arrhythmias you already know to the effects they are having on preload and afterload. This will help you understand the reasons for the treatments we have (or would like to have).
