| About one third of the population has a genetic
predisposition to cardiovascular diseases like stroke, hypertension and
CHF. If you (or your patients) have a family history of these
problems you need to take aggressive control of risk factors.
Renal disease, diabetes and chronic cardiac failure are common
in middle age to the majority of morbidly obese people. Reducing
the total number of calories consumed on any diet is the one totally
non-controversial intervention that produces good outcomes. Reducing
fat consumption to less than 20% of calories in conjunction with
calorie restriction also produces good outcomes. We offer a few
very low fat / zero cholesterol recipes
here to demonstrate that you can eat well and low fat at the
same time. Doctors Ornish, MacDougal and
Shintani all have excellent programs to help you do this. We have
tried all the recipes in this section and even made our ("I hate diet food!")
friends eat them. We get rave reviews.
Send us any ultra-low fat recipes of your own. If they get devoured
by our tough staff of test eaters, we'll include them and give you credit.
